This is a page dedicated to the pictures and videos I’ve taken on my wonderful journey chasing these magical beasts. Hope you enjoy. 😍

SIR NIGEL GRESLEY 21st and 22nd September 2023

All the other pictures are in date order most recent first. I’ve put Sir Nigel Gresley at the top as this was the highlight of my steaming journey. Ever since I got into steam trains I have wanted to see this outstanding locomotive and when I was fortunate enough to see this awesome feat of engineering, I wasn’t disappointed, I was totally mesmerised. Named in honour of the company’s Chief Mechanical Engineer, Sir Nigel Gresley was a prominent member of the LNER’s A4 Class, which debuted in 1935 to enhance train speed and compete with road transportation.
I also believe the two below pictures are the best I’ve ever taken and I’m really proud of them. They were featured in the Lancaster Guardian and people have asked if they can use them.

Sir Nigel Gresley leaving after a wagon full of water 😱

This photo was taken straight afterwards and any serious trainspotter knows how the wrong placed person can ruin a shot, but from one serious trainspotter to another I think the gentleman with the tripod adds to it and the moodiness and excitement of the photo particularly with the tripod, I don’t think it would have had the same effect without it.
My write up in the Lancaster Guardian, I sent them from my mums email and she got credit for the pics 😂 but I’m not bothered 😊

Whilst Sir Nigel was being filled, you could get close up to the engine and the build is truly magnificent. You can not appreciate the sheer quality until you get up close. It was one of the best days I can remember and to top it off I was asked if I wanted to go on the footplate, I was absolutely astonished and I didn’t need asking twice! 😂. Watch my mother as she gets engulfed in steam 😱

The day prior to Sir Nigel Gresley stopping off for water at Bentham he had steamed over Ribblehead viaduct, we set off excitedly leaving plenty of time, it was a truly magical experience and one of the best days out ever.

We also got some great video footage, it was a very wet and windy day and only the hardiest of train spotters had ventured out, we froze patiently and it was all worth it when we saw Sir Nigel Gresley peep through the mist and rain thundering on his way to Carlisle.

Tuesday 6th February Royal Scot Filling with water.

What a great start to 2024 and my first steam locomotive sight. The Royal Scot was filling with water not far from my home! I can hear her coming from my house!
It was made better by been allowed on the footplate and interviewing the Fireman and the driver, it was a thoroughly wonderful morning, I loved it 😍

I also then had the pleasure of interviewing Jess who goes around the country filling these wonderful engines with water!

Tangmere filling with water at Hellifield October 2023

What a wonderful time at Hellifield station when the wonderful Tangmere pulled up for a water refill. The noise, sight and smell was amazing. Tangmere, named after the military airfield in Sussex, is therefore a (Battle of Britain) class locomotive, completed at Southern Railway’s Brighton works in September 1947 and given the number 21C167.  Following the nationalisation of Britain’s railways Tangmere was renumbered 34067 in July 1949. Tangmere was never rebuilt in this way and retains most of its original features.  It is often referred to as ‘unrebuilt’.

There were plenty of people there to experience this wonderful sight.

Tangmere is owned and operated by the West Coast Railway Company from its base at Carnforth.

THE FLYING SCOTSMAN Saturday 14th October 2023

I also love The Flying Scotsman and would say she is the most famous steam-train. She was the first one I saw at Hellifield station before I got into train spotting. We set off to Ribblehead and it was a glorious spray, we took Billy to get some drone footage. I loved the footage and put my song called ‘Fred Dibnah’ to it. These pictures were taken heading towards Ribblehead viaduct and through the station. I particularly love the shadow of the steam on the moor as she leaves the viaduct ❤️
